We Treat Dental Anxiety in White Hills

At Whitehills Dental Practice, we understand that dental anxiety is real, so we do everything we can to help you forget you’re at the dentist. Whether it’s the relaxing music you hear when you enter our dental clinic, the calming artwork on the walls, the aromatherapy that wafts through the treatment rooms or the soft pillows that keep you comfortable while you watch your favourite movie, we want you to enjoy a dental experience like no other.

When you book a visit at our White Hills dental clinic, we will happily discuss your sedation options and help you make an informed decision about your care. Our top priority is keeping you calm and comfortable while we restore your oral health.

Exploring the Benefits of Sedation Dentistry in White Hills

Our dental team will do whatever we can to ease your anxiety and provide a relaxing dental experience for you and your family. Here’s how sedation dentistry can help anxious patients in White Hills and the surrounding areas of Epsom, Huntly and Bendigo:

Enhanced Comfort

Both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation relax your muscles, making dental treatment more comfortable. Once you’re comfortable, you can expect a more pleasant, streamlined dental experience.

Reduced Anxiety

Imagine going to the dentist without feeling fearful or stressed. One of the biggest benefits of sedation dentistry is that it can significantly decrease your dental anxiety, allowing you to get the care you deserve.

Decreased Memory

When you choose sedation dentistry, it’s possible you won’t remember some or all of your procedure. For anxious patients who are apprehensive about undergoing treatment, this is a significant advantage.

Increased Efficiency

Sedation dentistry is ideal for anxious patients who need multiple dental treatments, patients with special needs, or anyone with difficulty sitting still. Once you’re relaxed, our dental team can work more efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

The thought of dental care causing pain can be overwhelming, leaving many to put off essential visits out of fear. But what if we told you that modern dentistry has come a long way in ensuring comfort and easing anxiety?

At Whitehills Dental Practice, we’re dedicated to making your experience as pain-free and stress-free as possible. Your comfort is our priority, so you can leave your fears behind and focus on the brighter, healthier smile ahead.

Sedation Options to Calm Your Nerves

Our White Hills dental clinic uses nitrous oxide as a safe and effective way to keep you calm and relaxed so you can get the dental treatment you need. Also known as laughing gas, this odourless gas is mixed with oxygen and administered through a mask.

Nitrous oxide reduces your pain perception and anxiety levels by interacting with the brain’s neurotransmitters, creating a sense of calm. Once your treatment is complete, the nitrous oxide dissipates quickly so you can return to your busy day.

Local Anaesthetic to Numb Your Mouth

When you need a tooth-coloured filling or other dental treatment, we can completely numb the area with a local anaesthetic. Once administered, you won’t feel anything; your smile’s beauty and function will be restored before you know it.

Needle-less Injection

While this word may sound like an oxymoron, it is actually TRUE. We have this very special technology at our dental practice, which enables us to give you a “needleless injection.” If you have had bad experiences with needles in your mouth, to the point that you are now a needle-phobic, you are most welcome to come and see how this special technology works. Please ask us at your check-up visit, and we are more than happy to show you how this works.

Offering Sedation Options for You and Your Loved Ones

Dental sedation allows anxious patients to receive necessary dental care without tension and discomfort. If you avoid going to the dentist because of past experiences, anxiety or fear, sedation dentistry may be a good option for you.

Dental sedation is an essential tool in our dental clinic; we utilise the following options at Whitehills Dental Practice:

  • Nitrous oxide — Also known as “laughing gas,” this colourless, odourless gas is administered through a mask, working quickly and providing total relaxation. It’s safe for children and adults and wears off when we remove the mask.
  • Oral conscious sedation — For longer procedures or severe dental anxiety, we prescribe a sedative for you to take an hour before your dental visit. Someone will bring you to and from your appointment, and you’ll be completely calm while you’re with us.
